⚖ Required · Louisiana Law

Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement — grades 6–12

Louisiana Act 782 requires schools to send home an acknowledgement covering AI-generated images and the criminal penalties for misuse. If your child is in grades 6–12, we'll send this form home within the first 5 days of school and ask for your signature.

Common questions

What parents ask most

Is my child using ChatGPT at school?
In the classroom, students use approved AI platforms — Gemini Enterprise (Google Cloud), Coursemojo, and PlayLab. We do not use consumer ChatGPT for student work. Staff additionally have access to Claude (Enterprise) and ChatGPT for Teachers for their own planning and preparation — these are not available to students. The full list is on the Policies page.
Is my child's data used to train AI?
No. The tools we've approved for FirstLine use enterprise agreements that keep student data private and out of general AI model training. Read the details in our Student Usage Policy.
Are teachers using AI to grade my child?
Teachers make grading decisions. AI can help draft feedback or identify patterns, but grading judgment stays with the teacher — this is required by our Staff Usage Policy.
Can my child opt out of AI-supported learning?
Start with your child's teacher or school leader — they know your child and can make it happen day-to-day. For policy-level questions about opt-out, email Scott Shirey, Chief Innovation Officer. Family voice shapes our work — the Task Force includes two family representatives.
How can I share feedback about AI at FirstLine?
For AI policy or big-picture feedback, email Scott Shirey, Chief Innovation Officer. For day-to-day observations from your child's classroom, tell their teacher or school leader — that's often where change starts fastest.
